This guide will outline the appropriate and inappropriate use of your new Bitmain Antminer S9 Series miners.

To ensure proper operation, the Bitmain Antminer S9 Series miner must be used. Follow the guidelines in the following list of dos and don’ts to prevent damage to your Bitmain Antminer S9 Series miners.

All ANTMINERs are required to follow these safety precautions.

Dos to Follow:

1. Examine the Bitmain Antminer S9 Series miner for cosmetic flaws or dangling heat sinks. If you noticed damage or defect or found loose heat sinks, contact the seller immediately.

2. Install the miner in a place where there is no dust and free airflow.

3. Discharge static electricity or wear anti-static PPE while installing or maintaining the miner.

4. Unplugging the miner is necessary before installing or maintaining it. The control board will get hurt if you don’t do it.

5. Use a power source that has a 20% capacity greater output than the miner requires. If the power source’s actual output falls short of what the miners require in terms of energy, the hash rate will be low.

6. To the control board and hash boards of the miner, properly connect the D/C power 6-pin connectors of the positive and negative ports of the PSU.

If they’re plugged in incorrectly, the PSU will go into protection mode. It will also set fire to the control board and hash board.

7. Each miner should have their own PSU. The miner can use multiple PSUs while the hash boards can all use a single PSU to supply power.

It makes no difference how they are connected to the miner because the 6-pin power connectors can be switched out.

8. After the hash boards, turn on the control board. You can turn on a single miner that uses a single PSU as soon as you connect the hash boards and control board to it.

9. Make sure the miner is properly grounded or wired by checking.

10. In order to prevent lightning from harming your equipment, install lightning protection.

11. ANTMINERs only support Ethernet cables for connection; WiFi is not supported.

  • Common RJ45 cables can be used

12. If the network or internet connection can be restored within 15 minutes, the miners don’t need to be unplugged and restarted.

If the problem couldn’t be fixed right away, turn the miner’s power off. If the internet connection is unreliable, the miner will shut down.

  • Consult your router’s manufacturer to learn how many miners it can support since different models have different configuration options.
  • 150 miners can function with a 1 Mbps connection.

13. If you’re using a data card, make sure you have enough because a miner typically uses 500 MB of internet per month.

14. The browsers that are supported are Firefox and Google Chrome.

15. Dust and clean the miner from time to time. If the airway in front of the heat sinks is obstructed, the miner will have problems.

Don’ts to Follow:

IMPORTANT: One hash board shouldn’t be powered by multiple PSUs.

1. Use the miner outside of confined or enclosed areas. There must be nothing blocking the airflow in the miner.

2. Never operate the miner in an environment that has a lot of condensation, salt in the air, or humidity.

  • It is advised to keep the humidity below 65%. The high levels of salinity found in coastal areas are easily damaging to the hash board.

3. Avoid using the miner in hot weather. The recommended temperature range for the workplace is between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius.

At low ambient temperatures, the hash rate will be low. For a long time, the miner will degrade in high temperatures.

4. Avoid using a water curtain (for cooling) if there has been a lot of dust buildup. The hash boards will corrode as water vapor sticks to the dust accumulation.

5. PoE function switches and routers are prohibited due to the possibility of burning the control board.

6. As they are in direct contact with the IC pins, keep your hands away from the connectors on the fan and control board. Without an electrostatic discharge, touching these connectors will harm the IC, resulting in a malfunction of the miner.

7. You shouldn’t operate a miner that appears to be damaged.
