This manual explains general information and recurrent issues with Bitmain Antminer Fans.
Ⅰ.Fan Specifications
use standard 12038 size 4-wire fan.
ⅰ）12038 means the fan size：120*120*38mm，as shown below
ⅱ）Fan speed and air output
The air output of the 17 and 19 series miners is 315CFM, and the fan speed is 6000 rpm (individual rear fans are 4800 rpm, which can be replaced by 6000 rpm).
Please refer to the air output and wind speed data of other models:
ⅲ）There are 4 fan power PINs
Sort in the same direction, the one marked with an arrow or a solid square is the first one ：
①cpu fan PWM: Intelligent temperature control
②cpu fan in Speed measurement
③cpu fan PWR: Fan Powered
④GND: Ground wire
Ⅱ.Troubleshooting
ⅰ）The number of the control board fan and the log number are correlated in the manner shown below.
J12, J13, J15, and J14 are represented in the log as fan_id=3, 2, 0, and 1, respectively.
ⅱ）The speed of the 4 fans are all 0
Typically, the issue is with the power supply. It’s unusual to have a 12V power supply. To fix it, either plug in the 12V power cord again or change the power supply.
ⅲ）The fan is not present, there are fewer than 4 fans, or, when seen on the user panel, the fan speed is 0.
①Make sure there are no bad contacts on the fan cable and fan extension cable, then reinstall it as shown in the figure below.
②Replace the damaged fan right away.
ⅳ) Fan speed is too low
①As shown in the figure below, check for bad contacts on the fan cable and fan extension cable before reinserting it.
②Replace the damaged fan immediately.
ⅴ) Physical damage or vibration
The fan blade has been broken, as seen in the picture up top. It needs to be replaced in this situation. A mining machine with damaged blades will vibrate, which will harm the mining machine over time. Some fans have abnormal bearings, slight deformation of the fan grille that allows the fan blades to scratch the grille, and other issues., all of which have the same problem. In short, as soon as the miner’s fan begins to vibrate or make abnormal noises, it needs to be replaced.
ⅵ) Fan speed is too high
The miner is still operating, and according to the working status interface, the fan speed has reached 30,600 rpm. Our 6000 rpm fan cannot spin at such a high speed. There has definitely been an issue with this fan’s internal mechanism. It is advised to replace the miner immediately if such issues are discovered in order to guarantee the miner’s steady operation.
ⅶ）Broken fan cable
The fan cable appears to be damaged in the image above, which could result in a short circuit with the chassis or other cables. This kind of issue typically manifests as a low fan speed or a missing fan, and it can usually be seen from the log that the fan is faulty. It is advised to immediately replace the miner if such issues are discovered in order to ensure the stable operation of the device.
ⅷ）It can be seen that one fan’s speed is significantly lower than the other fans’ speeds from the log or batch scanning tool.
When the aforementioned abnormality occurs, the miner won’t report an error, but special attention should be paid to this circumstance because the fan is typically at fault. In order to prevent batch failures during the shutdown, damaged fans should be found and replaced quickly. The mining machine’s performance will be impacted by not enough fans.
